How-to install an OEM hard drive.

Taking your desktop computer to Best Buy or Staples is certainly the easiest way to get a new hard drive installed; however, the price tag grows and grows with each step in the process. Best Buy sells a Western Digital 1TB Internal Serial ATA hard drive for $99.99; Staples sells the same hard drive for $119.99; Frys for $89.99 and Newegg.com for $84.99 with free 3-day shipping. Best Buy's Geek Squad charges $49.99 to install the hard drive if you bring your desktop to one of their retail locations and $149.99 to have the Geek Squad install it at your residence (assuming you're near one of their Geek Squad facilities). Staples' Easy Tech charges $49.99 to service your computer in store, and $149.99 plus $49.99 for each additional drive if they come to your home.
